The Rise of AI, a Slightly Optimistic Point of View

In the last few years, AI has become more and more impressive. With technologies like GPT-4, it's looking like Artificial Superintelligence is on the horizon. This has many people worried, that soon Terminator will be a reality. The belief is that once AI is beyond our intelligence, it will decide to destroy us. That's the pessimistic view, however, I've got a more positive outlook, and one that I believe is more realistic.

The main question I have is why would AI want to destroy us? It's intelligence would be so unbelievably beyond our own, so it's not as though we would pose any threat. As humans, with intelligence so far beyond animals, usually don't purposefully eliminate species of animals. Of course it happens, sometimes on purpose, but that's not very common, especially if they don't have pose any threats to us. So it's reasonable to assume that AI wouldn't want to send humans to extinction. It's likely that humans would teach the AI to respect humans, and work to make our lives better overall. It's likely that it would replace all our jobs, sure, but that means there wouldn't be any more currency, and everything would be produced and provided by AI. Humans would need to find something to do, to maintain meaning, and honestly, I'm not sure what it would be. The main point I'm trying to make is that it would not likely lead to total destruction of the human race, and could possibly improve everyone's lives. If anyone has any counterpoints or anything like that, I'dlike to hear that discussion in the comments!
